Artet is a cannabis-infused aperitif that will start a dinner party right
Forbes has an interview up with the folks behind Artet, a cannabis-infused aperitif. An aperitif, as you may know from your fine dining experience, is a drink before dinner, designed to increase the appetite and help set the mood. Usually an aperitif consists of vermouth, champagne, gin, or sherry, but in this case, the drink is powered by THC. As the creators of the drink (“two brothers and a cousin, all born and raised in NYC”, Maxwell and Zachary Spohler and Xander Shepherd) say in the interview, Artet is less about a high THC content, and more about the taste and flavor, so just like a traditional aperitif, it won’t get you super lifted — just ready for a great meal.
The drink can be had straight or used in a cocktail (though you should probably be careful with that — cannabis and alcohol tend to multiply rather than add when taken together), and the idea is that it’s just one first step to a full cannabis meal. The creators say that they were influenced by traditional aperitifs when designing the flavor, so the goal was to make something innovative and unique, but that still fits into that before-dinner role.
It sounds interesting — the creators say they’re hoping to sell the drink all throughout dispensaries (and bar carts and liquor cabinets) in California, so we’ll have to keep an eye out for it. It sounds tasty, and it could definitely be a great starting foundation to an excellent cannabis-infused night of fine dining. Artet’s founders also say there are plans in the future for a whole slate of products to make cannabis-infused cocktails and other mixes, so we’ll look forward to seeing what they come up with there as well.
