Seattle cannabis dispensary starts packaging recycling program
A cannabis dispensary in Seattle, Washington has started a program to make sure that any leftover cannabis packaging (and there can be a lot of it these days) finds its way back into the recycling system. Canna West is a dispensary up in Seattle that noticed that there’s a lot of cannabis packaging waste going around these days — at most legal dispensaries, you’ll find separate packaging for the bag all of your purchases come in, and each strain these days usually has its own packaging, whether it’s a plastic or a glass bottle, or edibles wrapped in plastic and then fitted with cardboard boxing around them. That’s a lot of mess, and sometimes it’s hard to make sure that everything gets where it needs to go to be recycled in the correct way.
So the shop has started up a recycling program just to get rid of all of that trash. If you bring in old cannabis packaging, the shop will recycle it for you, and they’ll even reward you with some credits that can be used for discounts and deals in the store.
Of course, this probably isn’t the best long term solution — ideally, we’ll get to the point where packaging is as minimized and recyclable as possible, instead of having to try and clean it up after the fact. But for the time being, Canna West has found a way to both provide some good deals for their customers, and to clean up their corner of the world.
