Ganjaland is a new board game that offers "an epic weed adventure"
Lightly Toasted is a cannabis accessory and lifestyle brand out of New York, and they’ve announced the release of a board game that promises to take you on “an epic weed adventure.” As far as we can tell (details are a bit sparse on the website, unfortunately), the game is a take on Candyland, in that you navigate around a colorful game board with your buddies, trying to get to the end. On the way, you’ll pass landmarks like Dank’s Diner and play as characters like a lit leprechaun, a wacky wizard, or a toked-out alien, and you might pull cards that ask you to take on challenges of mind, body and spirit, like trivia, stretching in place, taking photos with included props, or trying to beat an included timer. There’s also a Spotify playlist made specifically for the game — we were expecting cliche stoner classics like Purple Haze and Sublime on there (and of course they are), but there’s also some more inventive choices like Kid Cudi and Morningwood.
It all sounds like a fun enough time, though the theme seems a bit abstract — we might prefer a game where you actually have to run a cannabis farm, or where you need to combine strains to grow the best, dankest weed that you can. Even if Ganjaland is a little goofier than those premises, it seems like a cheap, fun time with your buddies — you can pick it up and try it for yourself on the site for just $29.99. If nothing else, it seems designed to be played under the influence, so you can get a group together, light up a few joints or a bong, and then shuffle up the cards and dive on in.
