Museum of Weed pop-up set to arrive in Hollywood, CA
Weedmaps is best known for guiding you to the nearest local dispensary, but they have a new plan coming this summer. The company is set to open a “Museum of Weed” pop-up in Los Angeles (just off of Melrose, right down the street from Paramount Pictures studios) that will walk visitors through the history of cannabis. Attendees will get to see the history of the plant, including the many ways it was used dating back to the ancient world, and all the way up to the current societal issues that led to its prohibition in the US, along with the current movement towards legalization. There’s also a plant lab to tour, talking about “the scientific and technological advancements that gave way to a new era of cannabis.” Sounds like a great time!
Cannabis, of course, is legal for medical and recreational use in California, but the museum won’t have any to offer — instead, it’s designed both as a promotion for Weedmaps (the company has spent a couple of million dollars, apparently, getting the rights and access to art, photos, and videos for the museum), and just as a general educational experience around cannabis.
It sounds like fun! The cost is higher than you might think — it’ll be $35 for admission, and because it’s cannabis-related, only people 18 and older can attend. The museum is open from August 3 until September 29 this year, and you can grab tickets on the official website right now, if you’re anxious to lock in your dates. We’re based down in San Diego, but we might just make the trip up the 5 to check this place out.
