Jimmy Buffett is the latest celebrity with a cannabis brand
There’s already plenty of celebrities on board the cannabis train, from old stoner icons like Willie Nelson and Tommy Chong to newer entrants to the industry like Seth Rogen, Master P, and even Mike Tyson. And now, Mr. Cheeseburger in Paradise himself is joining the party. Aging rocker Jimmy Buffett has announced he’s working with Surterra Wellness to make a cannabis line of his own called, appropriately, Coral Reefer. Cute.
The line will include such punny names as Surfin’ in a Hurrican, Cabana Daydreamin’ and (wait for this one to hit you) Seas the Day. There’s also going to be a pen called Tiderider that looks like a surfboard. Surterra, if you’re reading this and want to send some over for us to try, please do!
On one hand, it would be pretty easy to dismiss this as a low energy cash grab on Jimmy Buffett’s part, except that everything that guy does could probably be described the same way. But we’ve decided it’s worth mentioning here anyway, only as yet another step towards cannabis in the mainstream. This is a substance that used to land thousands in jail all for some racist rules, and now Jimmy Buffett is selling it in dispensaries in Florida. If that’s not progress, what is, right?
