CBD might be on its way to your favorite snacks: Oreos, Nutter Butters, and more

Mondelez International may not sound familiar to you, but the snacks they make probably do: They’re the crafters of Oreos and other popular brands like Chips Ahoy, Nutter Butters, Club Crackers, Ritz, and more. CNBC reports that Mondelez’ CEO has confirmed that they’re considering adding CBD to their products. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to get CBD-infused Wheat Thins (though man, wouldn’t that be great?), but it does mean that the company could spin off new product lines, or offer variants on current products.

CEO Dirk Van de Put told the channel that while the rules around CBD aren’t completely clear at the moment, he believes that the Food and Drug Administration will lay out what’s what by the end of this year. CBD is already legal in many states (and in California, you can buy it at many nutrition centers right now), but he’s right that there’s still confusion at the federal level in the US. If the rules can be firmed up nationwide, we might get to check out nicely enhanced versions of our old favorite snacks.
