Carl's Jr. to serve a CBD burger in Denver on 4/20
We have definitely seen fast food brands get involved with the cannabis audience before, but we’ve never seen them actually sell cannabis-related products.. until now. Carl’s Jr has announced that for 4/20 this year, it’ll be making and selling a burger topped with none other than CBD-infused sauce. CBD, as you likely know, is cannabidiol, a compound found in cannabis that doesn’t carry the psychoactive effects of another cannabis compound, THC. The full effects of CBD aren’t clearly known just yet, but most believe it can provide some pain relief, relaxation, and anti-anxiety effects, and possibly help to improve mental health.
Carl’s Jr’s “Rocky Mountain High Cheeseburger Delight” will only have a Santa Fe sauce that contains about 5 milligrams of CBD (along with waffle fries, pickled jalapenos, and pepper jack cheese — yowza), but if you’re in Denver and in a munchies mood on 4/20, it might be just the taste you’re looking for. The burger is limited to buyers 18 and older, and will only be available on 4/20 this year, and only in Denver, exclusively at the 4050 Colorado Blvd. location. Obviously, this isn’t a huge change to Carl’s Jr’s business — it’s a stunt to get blog posts just like this one presumably. Still, it’s wild to see such a big chain even playing in the CBD arena, and it’s a sign that legalization and mainstream acceptance of cannabis continues to roll forward, bit by bit.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any representatives in Denver this year (as much as we’d like to be there), so if you get a chance to try this burger, drop us a note and let us know what you think!
