Citibank wants its logo back from Citidank
Citibank has said it wants to stop a dispensary from using a similar logo, according to the New York Post. Citibank, of course, is a major international banking conglomerate, and Citidank is a weed dispensary in Cathedral City, California (near Palm Springs) that's been offering up its services "for all your danking needs" since 2016 or so. Apparently the narcs at the New York Post noticed the similarity, and called up Citibank, who promptly issued a cease-and-desist order to the dispensary.
We have to admit, the similarity is definitely there (despite the great pun potential). But the real problem here is the Post -- why raise a fuss over something that no one would ever confuse anyway? It's not like you go to a place called Citidank expecting a loan or a CD, right? Although they probably do have some pretty good tunes inside.
At any rate, this is probably a nonissue -- more likely than not, Citidank will just have to rebrand (again -- apparently the dispensary was formerly called CC Releaf, according to their Weedmaps entry). Hopefully things will be fixed so that everyone ends up happy, and the dispensary can move on with a name unrelated to a giant banking conglomerate. Perhaps Dank of America? JP More High? Weeds Fargo? Ok, we'll stop now.
