Willie Nelson's company picks up $12 million in funding, $40m more on the way
Willie Nelson has a marijuana products company called GHC Inc. (they produce a "Willie's Reserve" brand), and despite all of the questions around the cannabis industry lately, it got a nice big infusion of cash. In a round of funding led by wealthy individuals and two different cannabis venture capital firms, GHC grabbed $12 million to expand into new markets. Currently, the company makes edibles and flower for markets in Colorado, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington state, but the $12 million will help them expand in Washington and Colorado, as well as bringing the products to California (which, since it went recreational at the beginning of the year, is now the biggest legal market for cannabis in the world).
And that's not all: GHC has announced it's heading for another round of funding soon where it's expecting to pick up $40 million. Lots of growers and dispensary owners aren't quite sure what Jeff Sessions has in store for them, but that hasn't stopped the business from a-rollin' right on.
