What's Good on Weed This Weekend: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nailed It! Holiday and more

Well, well, well. You’ve survived to another Friday — good for you! There’s no better way to get rid of all of that work week stress then by lighting up (or vaporizing, or chowing down on an edible) and tuning out for a bit with some of your favorite stuff. Here’s our weekly roundup of things to check out during one of the last weekends before the Christmas holiday starts up.

In games, there’s really only one option: Super Smash Bros. is back in Ultimate form, as Nintendo’s excellent (and content-packed) fan service beatdown has arrived on the Switch. There’s a lot of something here for everybody in this one — if you’re super casual, you can just enjoy beating your friends up with great Nintendo characters (and others — Sonic is here too!), or if you have a taste for competition, you can throw down in some pretty complex mechanical fights. The Game Awards were also last night, so if you haven’t caught up on the best games of the year, Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War both took home lots of trophies, and they’re both great as well.

On Netflix, there’s probably a lot you haven’t seen yet, as the streaming service has been frantically adding new movies and series for the past few weeks. Today specifically, a holiday version of the show Nailed It! has arrived — it’s a baking show with a twist, in that the contestants are all pretty terrible. The very funny Nicole Byer hosts the comedy side of things, while on the baking side, contestants try to recreate some professional confections (often quite badly). Personally, baking shows are off limits when we’re high (it just makes us too hungry) but if you’ve enjoyed the Great British Bake-off and would rather see someone more your speed, Nailed It is super fun.

At the movies, the Golden Globes nominees were announced, and A Star is Born and Vice walked away with plenty of nominations. The Assassination of Gianni Versace led on the TV side, so if you haven’t watched Ryan Murphy’s dramatization of the fashion icon’s fall, there’s another options. Oh, and Mission Impossible: Fallout has made it to Blu Ray and streaming rentals, so that might be a fun night in as well.

And because the holidays are spooling up, there’s probably a nice lights display or a holiday fair going on around you this weekend. Bundle up, spark up, and go out and enjoy the winter air, wherever you happen to be. Whatever you end up doing, here’s hoping you have a safe and happy weekend — we’ll see you next week!
