Ween guitarist wants to open a weed-friendly venue in Denver
Dean Ween is one of the guitarists from the band named after his last name (Ween — they had a few solid alt rock albums in the mid 90s), and he’s got some fun plans for the future. He is part of a group that wants to open up a cannabis-welcome concert venue in Denver, near Coors Field. The plan would create a venue called Dean Ween’s Honeypot Lounge (cute), and would combine recreational marijuana consumption with music and comedy shows.
Unfortunately, there are some restrictions. Usage would probably be limited to vaping and edibles (since smoking is so restricted in public venues), and there likely wouldn’t be any sales on site, so it’s BYO only, if the plans go through. The venue would also need community support, too — not only would Ween and his collaborators need to apply for a social use license, but they’d need local approval for a venue as well.
At any rate, it sounds like a great idea to us, and the owners say they plan to get through the entire process by April 20 next year. Good luck to them — it would be great to see another place in Denver where cannabis users can get together and have fun without worrying about navigating legal issues.
