What's good on Weed this Weekend: The Polka King, Darkest Dungeon, and more
It's Friday once again, and while it's been a slow week here on ES, we're still here to party all weekend long. Here's a look at some of the best uses of your time while high this weekend.
At the movies, The Post continues to be one of the best things to see so far in 2018. Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks turn in great performances, and the story about the Washington Post and the Pentagon Papers is super important during this time of "fake news" cries and attacks on the all-important press. If you're looking for something a little lighter, Paddington 2 is supposed to be very good, and there's nothing like getting really, really stoned and watching a CGI bear get up to his usual shenanigans.
On television, Netflix has a great movie just recently released called The Polka King that we really liked. It starts Jack Black as Jan Levan, a Polish polka pusher in Pennsylvania, and the movie is a great dark comedy about all of the things he is willing to do to keep his dreams going. Jenny Slate is also great as Levan's wife. We could tell you more, but why? Just go watch it (with a nice hybrid or indica -- it's a trippy flick). Dave Letterman also returned to TV last week on Netflix, so watch his long interview with former President Obama too, if you haven't yet.
In video games, Darkest Dungeon is now available on Nintendo Switch, and some critics are calling it the best version of the game. In the very dark but well-designed strategy title, you control a team of warriors that slowly goes mad as they explore a dungeon turn by turn. It's a very excellent game, and while it can be a little tough, the pacing is terrific -- you have time in between each turn to suss out strategy (or pack another bowl). Civ VI is also a great turn-based strategy game, and it's still only $12 over on Humble Bundle's monthly sale.
Finally, if you still want something else to do, might we recommend going for a walk? It's pretty cold in some parts of the US, but there's nothing wrong with bundling up, going out for a walk, and lighting up a nice joint on the way. Sometimes, the best entertainment in the world is just seeing what's going on around you in nature. Good luck, and have a great and safe weekend as usual! We'll see you here next week.
