What's Good on Weed This Weekend: King Gizzard, Black Mirror
Since it's the last week of the year, there's not a lot of new stuff out there to see, but this weekend is the perfect time to catch up with what you missed, and maybe wrap 2017 up in a nice bow right before you welcome in 2018. Here's what's good on weed this weekend.
At the movies, Downsizing is still our best recommendation if you haven't seen it yet, but of course Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out, as is Jumanji, and both of those are pretty fun times. The movie Lady Bird is also garnering a lot of great praise for the year, so if you haven't seen that yet, pre-NYE might be a great time to check it out.
In music, there is one new album that's very notable. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is a psychadelic band (that we've covered before) and they've pulled off quite a feat by releasing five different albums all in one calendar year. The last one just came out yesterday, and we haven't listened to it yet, but releasing five different albums in one year is pretty impressive (and it's cool that the final one came in under the wire).
On television, there's plenty to catch up on. Lately, we've been watching Ash vs Evil Dead and The Crown -- the first one is funny and gory, while the second is very well-acted and written. The new season of Black Mirror is out, however, and that is probably a fun watch as well. Just be a little careful on the sativa -- that's a dark show, and if you're prone to anxiety you probably won't enjoy that kind of horror on weed. Go for something much lighter instead -- have you seen The Good Place yet? That's a fun watch from this year.
And in video games, it's your chance to catch up on the best of the year. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been roundly praised by critics as the best, and we can tell you it's great with a little buzz on. Lately, we're playing Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and man it's fun to drive around a few laps in GT Sport. Don't drive while high in real life (if only because it's illegal, even in legal states), but in a video game, where your reaction times don't matter, it's fun to toss a sports car around a corner and see what happens.
There's plenty to do this weekend. And of course it's the end of 2017, so make you celebrate everything you've done this year as well. There's been a lot of rough stuff happening, but if you look around your life, we're sure you'll find some great things happening, too. And if not, don't worry -- 2018 is right around the corner, and it's the perfect opportunity to make everything right again. Have a safe and happy holiday!
