Molecular Farms, 3rd Gen Family, and Om Edibles win big at the Emerald Cup 2017
The Emerald Cup 2017 took place this last weekend in California's Sonoma County, and the big winners at the event walked away with their prizes for some of the best products in the business. The Emerald Cup is an annual music festival and marijuana event held in Northern California, and not only do some of the biggest music acts show up to play (Portugal The Man, The Roots, and Hieroglyphics led the lineup this year), but there's a whole lot of great weed testing and judging going on.
Molecular Farms picked up first place for the cup with their Lemon Crush strain, boasting 24% THC and 2.99 percent terpines. The CBD flower category was also a win for them, with Guava Jam picking up the prize. 3rd Gen Family also won quite a few prizes, with the silver medal for their strain called Roze, that "smells like cinnamon with a hint of rosemary." Awesome! 3rd Gen also picked up first and second in the rosin category and took six places in the top 10 of the hash category, so those folks definitely know how to make their cannabis happen.
Om Edibles also won a cup -- they've won before for edibles with a raw cacao spread, but this year their tastes were a little more fruity, and they picked the prize for their CBD Mango line.
It sounds like an excellent event, and we'll have to try and make a trip up there next year! California is headed for recreational in January, and so the Emerald Cup, already an institution, is set to get even bigger and better in the years to come.
